synopsis-02

As a sex addict, Lily Calloway must do the impossible. Stay celibate for 90 days. Cravings and fantasies become her new routine, but while Loren Hale recovers from his alcohol addiction, Lily wonders if he’ll realize what a monster she really is. After all, her sexual compulsions begin to rule her life the longer she stays faithful to him. Progress. That’s what Lily’s striving for. But by trying to become closer to her family—people who aren’t aware of her addiction—she creates larger obstacles. When she spends time with her youngest sister, she learns more about her than she ever imagined and senses an unsettling connection between Daisy and Ryke Meadows. With Lily and Lo’s dysfunctional relationship teetering and unbalanced, they will need to find a way to reconnect from miles apart. But the inability to “touch” proves to be one of the hardest tests on their road to recovery. Some love brushes the surface. Some love is deeper than skin. Lily and Lo have three months to discover just how deep their love really goes.

overview-02

“I love you,” he says again, “and no other man will ever say those words and mean them the way I do.”

Ricochet is a short novella set between Addicted to You and Addicted for Now. It follows the journey of Lily while Loren is away in rehab for three months. It’s a really difficult journey to read about because you see how much Lily struggles with her own addiction, her missing Lo, and trying to rebuild her family relationships. I really enjoyed this story a lot and I am so happy that the authors wrote a novella that let us see about her struggle while he was away and how we got to see some of his through phone calls. It was a really amazing addition and I loved it just as much as the first story.

1) Characters

“You don’t make me miserable. You make me want to live. And I want to live with you.”

I loved that we got to learn more about Ryke, Daisy, Rose, Connor, and the relationship with the parents. I continuously love Lily more and more each book but my second favorite character in this book is 100% Ryke. I love how much he cares about people he loves. It’s an amazing thing character trait of his because it’s not our right love but it is 100% love because you can see it in his actions. I am actually excited to get to his books to learn more about him and how Daisy to come together. Also learning more about Rose and Connor and seeing him break that tough exterior is so fun to waatch. I want to take Lily and hug her because she is so cute and just hope to see her confidence build each book.

2) Plot

“I want to love Lo without people telling me that our love is too much.”

As I said this book is all about Lo being in rehab and seeing Lily work through that and learn to combat her struggles. One thing I love about these authors is they don’t throw in useless plot points like love triangles, cheating, or multiple breakups for no reason. They know their characters in and out and don’t create plots that don’t make sense for them.

3) Writing/World Building

“Our I love yous encompass years of heartache, of hurt, of laughter and pain. And every time we say the words, I feel the rush of our childhood. I couldn’t imagine ever losing that.”

The writing gets better and better every book and I really love how they create the dialogue between the characters. Every character is so different and has a distinct voice that the authors created for each of them. Those traits and voices go throughout the whole novel and remain how they are and I love that.

4) Romance

“I love you and no other man will ever say those words and mean them the way I do.”

Obviously, these stories are all about romance but this one had a little less than the first because clearly, they weren’t together. But, the dialogue and writing made up for it. We got to see a lot of thoughts and they were extremely romantic and beautiful. Loren was such a sweetheart and always knows how to help Lily through her issues and I love it.

If you have read this story wht did you think of it?
