synopsis-02

No. More. Sex. Those are the three words Lily Calloway fears the most. But Loren Hale is determined to be with Lily without enabling her dangerous compulsions. With their new living situation—sleeping in the same bed, for real, together—Lily has new battles. Like not jumping Lo’s bones every night. Not being consumed by sex and his body. Loren plans to stay sober, to right all of his wrongs. So when someone threatens to expose Lily’s secret to her family and the public, he promises that he’ll do anything to protect her. But with old enemies surfacing, Lo has more at stake than his sobriety. They will torment Lily until Lo breaks.  And his worst fear isn’t relapsing. He hears the end. He sees it. The one thing that could change everything. Just three words. No. More. Us.

overview-02

“Sometimes the person we think we’ll become is the person we already are, and the person we truly become is the person we least expect.”

How do I keep falling in love with these books and these characters? They are my children and I love them so much. I literally adore how this is a story about Lily and Loren but we still get Daisy, Ryke, Rose, and Connor and the added anticipation to get to their stories as well. Addicted for Now is a wild ride because now Loren is outside of rehab and he and Lily are living like a real couple. We see their internal battles because this book features Loren’s point of view so we see how he is handling his addiction and being the one to have to set Lily’s terms for her and how it all affects him. This battle to recovery is super hard for them both but it is such a rewarding journey to follow and I felt like a proud momma. Lily struggles with the new limitations put on her sex life that she entrusted to Lo and we see the up and down hills she faces. Lo struggles with being around booze and the ability to get it everywhere and the freedom it brought him from his thoughts. All of this with the added pressure that someone is threatening to expose Lily’s addiction to the world. This story is filled with laughs, tears, happiness, sorrow, pain, struggles, recovery, forgiveness, self-appreciation and love, and so much romance in the air. I am so happy I got into this series because it is so hard to put down.

“I think the six of us—we’re all strong. We’re each just a different kind of strong. But we all have a different kind of weak too. And I’m figuring out how to bottle my weakness to help them all.”

1) Characters

“He is my breath. My soul. My life-force. I have spent forever with him.”

Someone find me a Ryke ASAP. I need him! He has officially become my favorite male of the six. He is so funny, protective, caring, sweet, adventurous, wild, and please that whole dinner scene in Mexico with Daisy was GOLDEN. The Oscar-worthy scene right there people I died of laughter at least 100 times in that scene alone. These girls seriously know how to keep hold of the different voices and personalities of all their characters exceptionally well. I think my favorite thing about them all is how close they are all becoming without them even sensing it. They confide in each other and need the next person so much that if they lost each other I have no doubt they would feel it. I love being inside Loren’s head for this book because I think it was extremely necessary to see how his mind is taking everything that is happening with him and Lily. He is so interesting and just wonderful. I am so excited to learn more about the other sisters and their men.

2) Plot

“Why is it that the people you come to love are the ones that seem to hurt you the most?”

I enjoyed how fun this book was compared to the previous two. When I say this I mean in the sense that we see Lily and Loren have to be in some places that put their recovery process to the test and see how they fare under the circumstances. I also love seeing how the authors are really showing how they are growing as a couple in a more healthy way. They have their space which is needed but they always orbit around one another and it is beautiful. Plus I really liked the added intensity of the anonymous exposer and when it was all revealed it was an OMG moment. It was fun trying to figure it all out.

3) Writing/World Building

“I could not live without Lo. He is as much a part of me as the sun is a part of the sky, as the earth is to the universe. I need him in order to wake up in the morning.
I need him to feel whole.”

Not much to say here because the writing and dialogue as I said is just as fantastic as the other two and I doubt this will change much. I do like how when they describe someone it’s not repetitive like their book Lover’s Like Us (the constant sharp cheekbones and such.) These feel much more natural and I love that. It just flows really well especially the pace I finished it in two days.

4) Romance

“Because I think she loves you more than she loves sex. And you love her more than you love alcohol, but you two just haven’t let yourselves believe it yet.”

Me oh my I blushed a hundred times. I love how Lo, Ryke, and Connor talk to the girls. Loren is such a protective man and his words literally would make me suck in a sharp breath and be weak in the knees. Ryke oh Ryke is so amazing. His banter and sexy flirting with Daisy are making me so eager for their story especially since you see how much he cares about what she’s going through. And Connor and his intelligent talk with Rose make my nerd’s heart scream. They are so cute yet so sexy. The sensual scenes are swoon-worthy as well people I mean SWOON.
